Boxing: Pacquiao vs Cotto



Early line favors No. 1 pound-for-pound king Manny Pacman Pacquiao to win in his boxing match against Miguel Cotto. The fight will be held on November 14, 2009 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

Basketball: Philippines Won versus Japan

The Philipine basketball team beats the Japanese 78-69 in the FIBA-Asia qualifying in Tianjin China. Thosse led the team with 15 points, Taulava added 11 and 8 rebounds. Heltebrand made 4 assists.

Japan’s Yamada made 16 points and 11 rebounds, Takeuchi with 14 points and 13 rebounds and Igarashi added 13.

Japan led at the half by outrebounding the Pinoys.

The RP will face South Korea tomorrow.

Talk ‘N Text Wins All-Filipino

The Aces were not able to overcome the shift of momentum in Game 6 and lost the title. Talk ‘N Text won KFC-PBA Philippine Cup, by winning Game 7, 93-89 at the Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City.

Tropang Texters came back from the series 0 – 2 down and won its second all-Filipino Championships.

Mac Cardona scored 23 points, 2 steals,2 assists and a block. He was named the PBA Press Corps’ Mighty Bond Finals MVP.

Willie Miller scored 22 points for the Aces. Reynel Hugnatan scored 13 points in the fourth quarter. Devance and Miller missed their free throws in the crucial minutes.

This is Chot’s 3rd all-Filipino title with a 3rd team. He won his other titles with Purefoods and Coca-Cola.

Pacquiao is the Favorite

Early line favors pacquiao to win in his boxing match against Ricky Hatton. The fight will be held on May 2, 2009 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

Manny Pacquiao is 48-3-2, W-L-D. 36 of his 48 wins are via KO. Ricky Hatton has 45-1-0, W-L-D. He suffered his only loss against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao has won four world titles in four different weight divisions. Hatton is The Ring magazine’s light welterweight champion. He is a former WBA welterweight and light welterweight champion.

Pacquiao vs Hatton on Vegas

British boxer Ricky Hatton agreed to stage the match in Las Vegas. It was reported that he wants to stage the duel in the 90 thousand seater Wembley Arena in United Kingdom. Richard Schaefer, Hatton’s promoter said that Hatton realized that was not the best place for the fight to happen.

World Cup: Tañamor Gold

Harry Tañamor won the light flyweight gold medal in the Boxing World Cup at the Megasport in Moscow, Russia. He defeated Yampier Hernandez via 15-7. He joined the roster of winners in the inaugural edition of the event organized by International Amateur Boxing Association.

Tañamor counterpunched and keep the Cuban on the outside.

China’s Zou Zhiming, who’s the gold medalist in Beijing Olympics did not compete in the said world Cup.

Tañamor had three victories to win the gold in Moscow. He defeated Murodjon Rasulov of Tajikistan, 8-4, in the quarterfinals and Lukasz Masczczyk of Poland in the semifinals, 12-4. He won $10,000 as a gold medalist.

Coca-Cola Wins vs SMB

Nic Belasco had 23 points and 15 rebounds in the Coca-Cola 101-95 win against San Miguel Beer in the PBA-KFC Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Taulava didn’t play due to fractured left middle finger in their previous game. Coach Kenneth Duremdes said that he challenged his players before the game, and they responded.

This is Coca-Cola’s first win in 4 games.

The Beermen dropped to a 9-7 WL despite Jay Washington’s conference high 25 points. He also had 13 rebounds.

Buenafe hit clutch free throws in the last minutes to end the game.

Pacquiao Won via TKO

Oscar dela Hoya quits before the ninth round begins.  ODLH received tremendous amount of punishment.  Pacquiao’s handspeed is the difference as his four punch combo at the end of eight round hurt ODLH.  Pacman simply battered him in the seventh round.

Pacquiao arrived in Las Vegas

Manny Pacquiao and his entourage arrived tonight on board his Navigator and his custom painted Pacman bus.

ODLH also arrived in Vegas Monday evening, ready for their fight on December 6 in MGM Grand.

They proceeded to Mandalay Bay Resorts and Casino. Pacquiao hosted a dinner for friends in his suite.

The 2 fighters will be formally introduced Tuesday at MGM Grand.
